November 2025 SASSA Seniors Grant R10 Uplift Confirmed – No Bonus Added, Full Payout Plan & Status Portal Guidance for Beneficiaries

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has made it public that the Old Age Grant (Seniors) is due for an increase of R10 starting November 2025. This very insignificant rise will form a part of the annual adjustment that is carried out every October for all eligible pensioners across the nation. However, SASSA has also mentioned that there will be no extra festive or December bonuses this year as the R10 increase has already been accounted for in the government budget for 2025/2026.With the increase in place, the maximum SASSA Old Age Grant for individuals less than 75 years old will be R2,335 and R2,355 for seniors (75 years and above) from November 2025.

No Extra Payment for Old Age during Christmas Season 2025

SASSA has entirely dismissed the year-end “festive bonus” payment as it would have been a Christmas gift for the elderly and this has happened amidst social media speculations. The officials have made it clear that the budget which has been approved for 2025 does not include any kind of social grants that would consist of one-off or doubled payments. The R10 increment is going to be the only one for social grants in 2025 and it is already operating alongside the inflation-linked rise of the grants. The increase although it may come across as small, is part of the increment growth cycle predetermined by the Treasury’s fiscal policy and SASSA’s long-term viability plan.

SASSA November 2025 Payment Schedule for Old Age Pensioners

SASSA states that the official payment schedule for the elderly will consist of the following days in the month of November 2025:

  • The Older Persons Grant will be made starting from Monday, 3rd November 2025.
  • Linked Grants (for example, Older Persons Care Dependency, etc.): It is also going to be disbursed on the same day at the same hour.
  • Those who possess the SASSA gold card as well as those who have their money via bank accounts or collection points at retail outlets (such as Shoprite, Boxer, and Pick n Pay, etc.) will get their money right when it is accessible.
  • For those selecting the bank deposit option, being patient for a maximum of two days after the given date, taking into account the bank’s processing time, is required for the amount to be visible.

How to Check Your Grant Status on the Web

SASSA has the official online platforms where payout dates, amounts, and banking instructions can be seen. The grantees can check their grant status in the following ways:

  1. Online Portal: The official site can be visited at https://srd.sassa.gov.za or https://sassa.gov.za. Provide your ID number and the registered mobile number. Click “Check Status” to confirm your payment and get a status update for the bank deposit.
  2. WhatsApp Service: Text “SASSA” to 082 046 8553 and listen to the prompts to get the latest news about your grant.
  3. USSD Option: on your mobile phone, Dial *134*7737# to get grant and balance information instantly.

These methods are the most effective ways of communication that allow the senior beneficiaries to remain informed without having to go to the SASSA offices.

Important Reminders for pensioners

SASSA Gold cards will remain valid until the end of December 2026. All merchants and ATMs will accept the cards.  The elderly should do partial withdrawals of their pensions instead of whole withdrawal in order to minimize the risk of loss or theft.  If the payment is late, the beneficiaries can contact the SASSA call center at 0800 60 10 11 for assistance.
