SASSA November School schedule 2025 : No matter if they are parents, teachers, or students, the Department of Basic Education (DBE) has made it possible already to plan for the coming year since the November 2025 school term dates are now officially released. The end of the academic year is fast approaching and that is the reason why many are anxious to know the answer to one question: Are there going to be longer holidays this year?
Official November 2025 Term Dates
The newly issued school calendar indicates that the last term of 2025 has officially commenced on Monday, 13 October and will continue until Friday, 5 December. Consequently, students will have a total of around eight weeks of lessons before the very much anticipated summer vacation finally starts.
During this time, all the schools in the country will be closed for holidays, and summer break will be from Monday, 8 December 2025. The beginning of the new school year is projected for mid-January 2026, thus allowing students and teachers to have a proper break.
Although these dates are set for schools all over the country, there might be minor changes in the case of public and private schools as well as the coastal and inland provinces which have different traditional academic calendars.
Are Extended Holidays Coming?
So far, the Department of Basic Education has not announced any changes to the holiday calendar for the current year. However, a number of families may be in the position to take a holiday that is a bit longer than what normally is granted by schools since the long public holidays, which sometimes coincide with school closures, will be their opportunity to get away for a little longer.
As both Christmas Day (25 December) and New Year’s Day (1 January) fall in the middle of the week, switching to taking extra leave days is expected from many educational institutions and companies, which will effectively lengthen the holiday season for the South African people.
For the students mentioned above, the period becomes very crucial, as they will be able to get physically and mentally ready for the next academic year after the long and difficult learning functions and assessments throughout the year.
Exam Season And Year-End Preparations
November is when the final examinations take place for most grades, especially Grades 7, 11, and 12. The Department of Basic Education has warned the students to remain focused until the very end of their exams.
The last day of the Matric (Grade 12) exams is on 29 November 2025, after which the process of the marking and moderation will take place, just as it has been in the past. Following the trend, the announcement of the 2025 Matric exam results will be made in early January 2026.
