SASSA Implements November 2025 Payout Boost Across All Social Programs – Check Full Payment Dates and New Amounts

Payout of social grants in the country of South Africa has been a huge win for people who have been, and rightfully so, depending on the main social programs that will be taken care of by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) whose announcement regarding the increase in payment for the year 2025 coming into effect in November has already been made public. This hike is only for a limited time to relieve the households from the cost pressures that are usually associated with the end of the year, such as the inflation of food, transport, and utilities. Not only the regular payments, but also the consumers of Old Age, Disability, Child Support, and SRD grants will be receiving slightly more than their regular share in November.

The November 2025 Increment in Payouts at a Glance

The Department of Social Development (DSD) and the National Treasury have put their heads together and decided to double the already boosted payout for November which is a part of the government’s plan to provide relief from the cost of living. This was public demand asking for slow price increases and stable household incomes that led to this decision. According to the new scheme, SASSA beneficiaries will be getting a once-off bonus of R50 to R100 depending on the type of grant, with the amount decided accordingly. SASSA has made it abundantly clear that this bonus is not a permanent increment; rather it is a temporary alteration for holiday relief directed at helping families during the festive season and amid rising economic uncertainty.

New Grant Amounts for November 2025

The temporary boost has come to an end and the new grant amounts for November 2025 can in general be stated as follows:

  • Old Age Grant: the younger group (people less than 75 years old) will get R2,260 instead of R2,180 and the older group (people aged 75 and above) will get R2,280 instead of R2,200.
  • Disability Grant: the beneficiary will get R2,260 and between the previous amount of R2,180 and the new one the only thing that distinguishes them is the increase.
  • Child Support Grant: the new sum will be R580 instead of R530 (an increment of R50).
  • Foster Care Grant: the amount goes up from R1,130 to R1,210 (an increase of R80).
  • Care Dependency Grant: this grant has been recently created for this category; a total of R2,260 has been allocated.
  • War Veterans Grant: the amount has been set at R2,300.
  • SRD Grant (R370): in addition to the standard amount, a one-off R50 bonus will be given to the beneficiaries, thus the total payout for November is R420.

SASSA announces that the temporary top-up will be done solely through the payments that beneficiaries are used to getting, hence no new applications or verification processes are required.

Full Payment Dates for November 2025

SASSA has also released the grant payment schedule for the different provinces for November 2025:

  • Old Age Grant: Tuesday, November 5, 2025
  • Disability Grant: Wednesday, November 6, 2025
  • Children’s Grants (and all other grants): Thursday, November 7, 2025
  • The processing of SRD and special support payments will still take place during Monday, November 25 to Friday, November 29, 2025, depending on when the bank verification is completed.

Beneficiaries who chose bank deposits will receive their funds directly into their accounts. Conversely, beneficiaries using cash delivery services or going to retail outlets (Shoprite, Boxer, Pick n Pay) will have to wait until the end of the month, somewhat longer than the ones who opted for the bank deposit option.

November’s Boost Is Important and Happens for a Reason

The short-term rise, which presents inflation still above 5.5% and food prices very high, gives the poor, who number in the millions, a little bit of breathing space. The Department of Social Development mentioned that the financial pressures on the elderly, caregivers, and the unemployed would be greatest during the festive season and the adjustment is aimed at their relief. The social justice supporters have regarded the situation very positively which is in line with their attitudes as they termed the adjustment a “very good step to long-term income relief,” but still need and are advocating for permanent grant hikes at least equal to the inflation rate.
